If you didn’t find the perfect dress or pinny on the ‘For Sale’ pages, you could consider commissioning one.
One advantage of doing this is that you can tailor the item to suit you: eg, combination of materials, length of dress/pinny, or size of pinny pocket.
(nb ‘customised’ items cannot be returned for refund unless they are faulty).
I can often complete the order within a week. But I will advise if a longer lead time is likely.
If you’ll be unable to collect your item, please add £5 p&p to the prices below.
Payment can be made in cash (if buying in person) or by cheque, online (BACS / Faster Payment), Paypal, or Debit/Credit card (via a link to your mobile phone from mine).
a. Using material from my stash
I usually have a good stock of cotton fabrics in a range of plains & patterns, in many colours and a variety of weights. I have a more limited range of linens and (rarely) wool.
There are photos of some past stashes on the ‘How to Buy’ page. I can send photos of current ‘possibles’ once we’ve discussed your preferences.
The price for a ‘commissioned’ item using my standard material is the same as for the ‘Ready-to-Wear’ ones. Usually:
for pinnies:
- £30 (Adult), £25 (‘Tween) & £20 (‘Tot’), if made in cotton
- £40 (Adult), £30 (‘Tween) & £25 (‘Tot’), if some or all of it is made in linen or wool.
- £45 (adult), £35 (‘Tween) & £30 (‘Tot’), if some or all of it is made in denim
for dresses (only available in adult sizes):
– £55 if made in polyester (I’d bought some unintentionally, mistaking it for linen !)
– £75 in cotton
– £95 in linen or denim
Very occasionally, I’ve come across some linen of exceptional quality (eg heavy weight, hand printed, studio design etc). A dress or pinny made from one of these would be individually priced.
My denim is not recycled: it’s new, 12 or 14oz per square yard, woven from 100% cotton & is triple-washed to minimise later fading / colour run.
b. Using your own material
Alternatively, you also have the option of sourcing your own fabric & sending it to me to be made up. I can advise on quantity required & on suitable weights & patterns. I prefer to use 100% natural fabrics only.
Pinnies
The price for a ‘commissioned’ pinny using your own material is £25 for Adult and £20 for ‘Tween and ‘Tot’ sizes.
Dresses
The price for making up your fabric into a pinafore dress (Adult sizes only) is £50.
